Whither shall I go from thy spirit? Or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: If I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. If I take the wings of the morning, And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;
Psalm 139:7-9 KJV
Hello brothers and sisters, I am glad that the Lord has seen you through yet another day. If your day was anything like mine, there was a lot of space to think. Every day has its own little blessings that are sprinkled throughout the hours. We just have to be willing to see them for what they are.Today’s blessings included my first breath, the hot tea in my cup, waking up warm, in a bed, with a blanket and a pillow! Some many times we can all forget how truly blessed we are.
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV
So about three weeks ago we were blessed with new babies. Our rabbit, called a doe, gave birth to seven baby bunnies. They are adorable and they have changed so much and grown so quickly. The temperatures have dropped a lot since the babies were born and my husband was worried about the little ones being too cold.
Me: I am sorry you have to go out in the cold love.
Husband: Christ went into hell to get me
He said this as he was leaving the room. I jumped to my feet and had to start this post… granted I only put in the title and a few notes that had flashed across my mind as he spoke words of wisdom to me. I don’t even think he realized how much what he said hit me. I meditated on this for some time and came to this simple conclusion:
And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
Matthew 25:40 KJV
Jesus said whatever we have done to others we have done to Him… these are heavy words when you really sit down and think about it. For me this was kind of a painful thought. Even though I know better there are still a lot of things that I could say and do differently. With a heart that wants to serve my family and friends and well everyone as if they were Christ Jesus. I know they are not and I am not saying that we are a mini god or that we must serve the god within… I am simply using Jesus’s own story.
How did we treat Jesus when we woke up?
Did we serve Jesus a good breakfast or let Him fend for Himself?
Did He have to search for clothes to wear today?
Did we brush Him off when He came to us with questions?
How long did He struggle at work before we helped Him?
Did He mysteriously get sick and you had little compassion?
Did we curse Him in traffic today?
Were we rude to Him as we waited in line at the store,bank or other business?
So many things we do during the day bring us in direct contact with other humans and this is an opportunity to allow Christ to shine through us! What an exciting thought! I mean Christ went to hell for us, on top of and over and beyond everything He endured before He even made it to the cross. Then after, He went to hell for three days… I am not entirely sure about what He did while He was there but I know that I could not have done it.
for as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
Matthew 12:40 KJV
There is a world full of broken and hurting people… perhaps you are one of them. We don’t need more harsh words and non-compassionate people, the world has enough of those. I know we can look around and see all the evil in the world and it can harden us. Our hearts grow cold and our minds are clouded by bitterness as the years roll by and seemingly no one that truly needs it is punished. First I want us to remember that all of us have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God and none of us are righteous… no not one.
and
for all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Romans 3:23 KJV
Christ went to hell (and so much more) for me…
